Terence L. Thornhill, Architect was approached to design, in an adaptive way, the expansion and remodel of an existing dental office building. The design was conducted in such a way so as to allow the continuation of the dental practice - during construction.
The roof of the original structure was left in place and, in fact, utilized in a load bearing capacity for the overframing of the new roof form.
Two new gable features were added: one over the office area and one at the newly expanded entry way. The new entry way features a more spacious and comfortable waiting area along with accessible restroom accommodations.
Heavy timber gable truss features were added at every roof gable end to lend to the rustic nature of the new building language.
The interior spaces were totally redesigned to feature warmer tones, higher ceilings and better flow to provide for a more comfortable work and patient environment.
